The Miami Valley refers to the land surrounding the Great Miami River in southwest Ohio. Most commonly, it refers
to the Dayton and greater Dayton area. In close proximity is Cincinnati, Ohio, which according to an article in the
Cincinnati Enquirer, as greater Cincinnati grows northward, it is expected to eventually merge with greater Dayton
by 2010. Currently, the Dayton metropolitan area consists of approximately one million people. The new Cincinnati-Dayton
metroplex will be comparable in nature to that of Baltimore-Washington's and place it within the top 20 most populous
metros in the US with a population of nearly 3.1 million. To the northeast of Dayton lies Columbus, the capitol of Ohio,
with a metropolitan area consisting of approximately two million residents. ACTION assists families in each
of these areas and is able to refer familes and children to services in each of these locations.
Many resources are available to children and families within Dayton and
its surrounding areas. A sampling of these services are listed on this website. They include adoption assessments, counseling and psychiatric services, occupational, physical
and speech therapies, and in-home nursing assistance when required.
